Meet Supervisor Kelly Long

Kelly Long was first elected to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors in 2016, representing the Third District, and was re-elected in 2020 and again in 2024 for her third and final term. (In 2008, Ventura County voters approved term limits for Supervisors of three terms, or 12 years.) The Third District encompasses the cities of Santa Paula, Fillmore, and portions of Camarillo and Northeast Oxnard, as well as the unincorporated communities of Piru, El Rio/Nyeland Acres, and East Lockwood Valley.

Throughout her tenure, Supervisor Long has prioritized effective, responsive, and transparent representation for her constituents. She has guided her district through multiple significant challenges, including the Thomas, Woolsey, Hill, and South Mountain fires, the Santa Clara Wastewater Treatment Plant incident, and the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, she served as Chair of the Board of Supervisors, helping to lead Ventura County through the unprecedented difficulties of the pandemic.

Supervisor Long is actively engaged in regional governance, serving on numerous boards, committees, and commissions. These include the Ventura County Employees Retirement Association (VCERA), Fillmore Piru Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (FPBGSA), Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency (FCGMA), and Camarillo Airport Authority. She also represents Ventura County at the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) and the National Association of Counties (NACo), among others. As Chair of the FPBGSA, she led a diverse coalition of farmers, environmentalists, and water professionals to finalize a Groundwater Sustainability Plan, safeguarding the future of the Santa Clara River Watershed Basin.

Before joining the Board of Supervisors, Kelly Long served as a Trustee for the Pleasant Valley School District from 2012 to 2016. Her professional background includes over 25 years as an entrepreneur and business executive, with extensive experience in budgeting, fiscal accountability, collective bargaining, and contract negotiations. She holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and earned six patents during her career in the biomedical industry. A proud product of a family of small business owners, educators, and community volunteers, Kelly Long values public service and civic engagement.

She is the mother of two daughters and has worked to build a strong, connected community for them. Together, they enjoy exploring Ventura County’s natural beauty — from hiking nearby mountain trails to rowing and surfing along the county’s scenic harbors and beaches.
